Alisitos Fish Tacos

My first day in Mexico, took me a little further south from Tijuana, into a small, next to the road town, called Alisitos. As you can imagine, pedaling for long hours makes you hungry like crazy, added to this, was the fact that I was finally going to be able to try some authentic Mexican Food. There was only one little problem, I had no Mexican Pesos on me.

I was lucky enough to be able to exchange some USD from one OXXO store right next to the taco place I had spotted. I will never forget the taste of this first time fish taco! This had to be the most incredible experience of the whole trip! I have to say that this place had the best fish tacos I ever tasted in Mexico. This food truck by the side of the road was the best welcoming to the country that I fell in love with during this trip.

Crossing the border from the USA into Mexico was something I had been looking forward to throughout my last two months cycling in the States.  I had heard so many stories about Tijuana, and the border and was just a little worried about it.  It definitely was nothing to worry about, and I could finally say I had crossed a country on my bike.

I left the USA a little worried about my legal status, because while leaving, I wasn’t asked for my passport and didn’t get any customs stamp. The only proof of having left the USA I have, is a stamp I had to get in the Mexican customs office, which by today I still have on my passport, alongside a photo of me enjoying the best authentic fish tacos.
